Iain Macarthur

I've looked at this illustrator before (on my take a look around blog I posted some famous skulls he made).   Before when I was looking at his work I didn't pay much attention to his 'wildlife' section of his website. I revisited it again today and his work and inspired me to do a large etching of an owl.

Macarthur works with a lot of different sized lines and lots of dark areas, which I can't do with etching unless I use the aquatinting process again (so maybe it wasn't completely useless). His use of shape is amazing in this image. He uses lots of shapes and lines that you wouldn't normally associate with wildlife.

His website is very clever and won't let me link the image I wanted to so instead here is a link to the page of his website... http://iainmacarthur.carbonmade.com/projects/2879955#2
